The Event was Great!!!
by vintageb on Jun.02, 2009, under Fashion Forward
If you missed our last Recessionistas Sale on May 17th, here’s a synopsis for you…it’s kind of a spoiler so don’t read it if you prefer to see for yourself.
We hosted the Official launch party for CavWin’s clothing line TME, with a killer fashion show that actually had some people buying the clothes straight off the models. Think I’m lying?…
So many vendors, so many people talking, eating some yummy cupcakes and turkey meatballs, dancing to the tunes of DJ Rob the Rich, shopping the best clothes this side of the bridge, and best of all… having a good time!!
These people attended and were so moved, they wrote about it:
Boys + Clothes Magazine
Moose Hunt
We entertained the crowd with an amazing fashion show with clothes from Chay Styles, Princess of the Possee, Vintage Blvd and more.

We gave our peeps not 1, not 2 but 3 raffle bags!! And one lucky winner won a Flud Watch given by CavWins
If you are drooling after reading this, fear not, there is hope for you after all. Just join our mailing list or visit this site and you’ll know when our next event is. If you still don’t attend … you’re on your own.
See you soon (I demand it)

Baby dolls, Empire Waists…Friends or Foes?
by vintageb on Feb.16, 2009, under Fashion Forward
So there’s been a recent surge of baby doll shirts, empress dresses and other loose fitting clothes for women. I remember a few years ago seeing very pretty baby doll shirts in the plus size section at Rainbow, and I used to go searching for it in the regular side…to my disappointment, they didn’t have it.
I guess they and everybody else caught on, because before you knew it, baby dolls and empire waist dresses were everywhere…and very cool looking too.

My thing is, is it good or bad? For me personally, when I started gaining more weight, which has been an ongoing struggle for me a la Janet Jackson, I started buying more and more of the baby dolls. They were perfect; some very sexy on top showing muchos cleavage, and then they gave good coverage below. Basically, for me, I didn’t take care of my weight for a while because I always had a cute baby doll shirt to cover up the goods.

I’m not saying they are the cause of it…but certainly they enabled me. Now, there are plenty of sexy plus size and voluptuous girls like me out there, some who are even in more shape than the next skinny girl, and I’m definitely happy we all now have something to give us a boost…but if you fall in my category, you might want to remember that you are buying them because they are cute and fashionable and fit your body type and make you feel fierce, but don’t let the clothes define you.
